Expedition 1 - Overnight Hike ~

Beginner Level – Overnight hike with experienced Venturer Scout. We will help you source equipment, you only need food, pack and sleeping bag (you are welcome to use your own gear if you have). Communications will go out prior to participants with more details. Learn the basic skills to take a group on a short expedition.

Beginner Level – Overnight trip on the Red Deer River with experienced Venturer Scout. Range Master Certification - Archery, Pelletry, Tomahawks ~

Rangemaster training session for ARCHERY, PELLETRY and TOMAHAWKS  Certification is required to run ranges in with Scouts Canada. Youth over 14 may participate but will become an assistant rangemaster. You must be certified every 3 years to be in good standing.

Magic Campfire ~

2-day course on how to prepare and lead a fun Magic Campfire for all age groups. And remember, it’s not always the fire lighting that makes it magical.

Paddle Canada - Waterfront Instructor ~

Certificate course on Waterfront Canoeing from certified Paddle Canada instructor. Candidates are considered a canoeist who has the knowledge and skill to teach and demonstrate all the necessary skills for the Waterfront program. The Waterfront Instructor will be able to safely implement a Waterfront Program for novice level canoeists in a designated calm flatwater environment.

Back Country Cooking ~

A 1-day session on how to prepare and make your very own back country meals and how to then cook
them up for a gourmet feast on the trail. Hotdogs aren’t the only food to make at camp.

Dutch Oven Cooking ~

1-day session on how to have some fun with standing camp cooking. Learn some great recipes and
methods for making your next camp a gourmet event to remember.

Sailing ~

This week long session will get you to a level of confidence with the Camp Woods Sailing Fleet. Includes both dry land and on the water sailing with our own Scouter Andy of the Calgary Sea Scout group.

Standard First Aid ~

First Aid is a valuable skill that is applicable in any environment. It provides people with the rescue skills to manage illness or injuries while accessing the need for emergency services. First Aid Training also has an injury prevention role. Research has overwhelmingly shown that individuals with First Aid Training are less likely to become injured.

Wilderness & Remote First Aid (WRFA) ~

Basic level of Wilderness & Remote First Aid that covers material in Standard First Aid & CPR, plus special material on techniques for wilderness and remote areas. Course also offers strategies for providing extended care for up to 24 hours. Part of the course is taught in an outdoor setting and requires greater physical activity and endurance than typical first aid training. Suitable for those who work or live in remote locations or who are outdoor recreation enthusiasts.

Advanced Wilderness & Remote First Aid (WRFA) ~

Advanced level of Wilderness & Remote First Aid that covers material in Standard First Aid & CPR, plus special material on techniques for advanced wilderness and remote areas. Course also offers strategies for providing extended care for up to 24 hours. Part of the course is taught in an outdoor setting and requires greater physical activity and endurance than typical first aid training. Suitable for those who work or live in remote locations or who are back country enthusiasts.
